Beauty is the quality that gives pleasure to the mind or senses and is associated with such properties as harmony of form or color, excellence of artistry, truthfulness, and originality. A quality or feature that is most effective, gratifying, or telling.
Brief Explanation:
Vanity of vanities! All is vanity (Ecclesiastes 1:2). Well, this is certainly when it comes to holding on to or holding much hope for the perpetuation of beauty. In our narcissistic Western culture, the attempt to remain young, youthful, and ultimately beautiful has become a hopeless obsession. The reality is, we will all grow old (if we are blessed) and beauty will fade; thus, we would be wise to look at the beauty that is truly beautiful. A sunset, a smile of a child, the voice of a friend, the word of God, all are beautiful, and enjoying the beauty of God is important, and something to encourage another struggling in life.
The Word of God:
Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.
Psalms 27:4
“One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of he Lord all the days of my life, To behold he beauty of the Lord, And to mediate in his temple.”
Proverbs 31:30
“Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”
Isaiah 3:18
“In that day the Lord will take away the beauty of their anklets, headbands, crescent ornaments…”
