Definition:
To be “born again” means to be regenerated; renewed; having received spiritual life. It is a strictly biblical term, signifying moving from darkness to life through the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
Brief Explanation:
How could anyone deny the need for a savior? Similarly, how could anyone deny that Christ and his sacrifice is the greatest expression of love and mercy ever expressed? Well, many do, including many who seek help for what are essentially spiritual problems. In working with clients over the years, the greatest disappointment I have had has been to see men and women make emotional changes, yet never give their hearts to Christ. Their eternity, though they will face it better adjusted, is just as lost as one who never made changes to better their life. As a counselor, your hope is to lead many to Christ, but you must be sensitive to the timing of sharing your faith (a primary responsibility) and actually persuading them by your influence. It must be the clients’ choice, and your prayer should be to have open hearts to share the love of Christ, leaving the results to the Lord. For more, see “Bringing Heaven to Earth” by Dr. Tim Dailey.
