CONFIDENCE

Definition:

Confidence is a trust or faith in a person or thing. It can include a trusting relationship: I took them into my confidence. It can also be seen as a feeling of assurance that a confidant will keep a secret: I am telling you this in strict confidence. Also, feeling of assurance, especially of self-assurance.

Brief Explanation:

Confidence in your skill and spiritual maturity is necessary for a person in need to receive genuine counsel and help. If there is a lack of confidence, the person questioning your motives or expertise, it will be most difficult to make positive impact on their lives. Our confidence is in God, his word and grace, along with our skills as humans and counselors. A combination of training[1] and the

empowerment of the Holy Spirit is needed to be an effective caregiver.

The Word of God:

 Proverbs 3:26

“For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.”

Psalm 118:8, 9

“It is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in princes.”

Psalm 71:5

“For Thou are my hope; O Lord God, Thou are my confidence from my youth.”

Proverbs 14:26

“In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and his children will have refuge.”

1 John 3:21

“Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;”

1 John 5:14, 15

“And this is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
