Definition:
Demons are defined as evil, supernatural beings; workers of the devil. It can also be seen as a persistently tormenting person, force, or passion: the demon of drug addiction.
Brief Explanation:
I am not a demon chaser, though I have found that they will occasionally show up in the counseling process. Evil does exist, and demonetization is a real problem for some. The divine ability to discern if a demon is present in the life of the client is important, as many times it is most difficult to tell if a symptom presented is psychological or spiritual. If you try to cast a demon out of a person who is suffering with a personality disorder, it will not work, and will often cause damage to the precious person. Thus, it is wise to seek a second opinion, from a pastor or other professional who has experience in this field. I know, the client wants relief today, but they can frequently wait until you have properly assessed if the problem is indeed demonic. If it is, it is best to work in a team. You must recognize your authority in Christ, and minister with the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
The Word of God:
Mark 16:17, 18
“And these signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons…”
1 John 3:8
“The one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The son of God appeared for this purpose, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”
James 4:7
“Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
