FAITH

FAITH

Definition:

Faith is a confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing. It is a belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. Faith can be seen in loyalty to a person or thing; allegiance: keeping faith with one’s supporters. In Christianity; the theological virtue defined as secure belief in God and a trusting acceptance of God’s will.

Brief Explanation:

Faith is basic trust that something will actually happen. Most clients come for counseling with wishes and expectations, often unreasonable, that the anointed, gifted, practically infallible counselor will have all answers and wisdom. Of course, it is not long before they are disappointed, as reality sets in. Yet, a certain amount of reasonable faith is needed, in the Lord, the counselor and the process, if effective, help is to be given. In the beginning, it may well be necessary for the counselor to have significantly more faith in both the process and the Lord than the client, but this is fine until trust (a component of faith) is established. Rest assured, without faith it is impossible to please the Lord and accomplish much. But with faith in God, all things are possible. See both Faith Dynamics and Mountain Movers by Dr. Ken Chant.

The Word of God:

“And without  faith  it  is  impossible  to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”

Romans 10:17

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.”

Ephesians 2:8, 9

“For  by  grace  you  have  been saved through faith; and not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Romans 14:23

“But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith, and whatever is not from faith is sin.”
