HEAVEN

HEAVEN

Definition:

Heaven is defined differently by different people, but generally can be defined as the sky or universe as seen from the earth; the firmament. Often used in the plural. Within Christianity, Heaven is the abode of God, the angels, and the souls of those who are granted salvation. It is an eternal state of communion with God; everlasting bliss.

Brief Explanation: It has been said, everyone wants to go to Heaven, but nobody wants to die. However, heaven is, for the believer, a real hope, and something to look forward to. Often, heaven and hell are topics that are discussed, in light of the loss of a loved one, or in working with a dying patient. There is nothing more important than to give comfort to the bereaved, and where possible, give hope to the client of a heaven to gain. If the client you are working with is unsure of their destination when they die, and they are open to discuss spiritual things, it is a wonderful opportunity to introduce the joy of knowing Christ to them. Again, sensitivity is needed in discussing eternal things, and we should do so with humility and grace.
