RESURRECTION

Definition:

Resurrection is the act of rising from the dead or returning to life. It is the state of one who has returned to life. Specifically, in Christianity, it is the rising again of Jesus on the third day after the Crucifixion, and the rising again of the dead at the Last Judgment.

Brief Explanation:

 Belief in the resurrection is a fundamental doctrine of the church. As Christian counselors, the topic of the resurrection usually only arises at the time of a death of a loved one. Being familiar with the scriptures relating to the resurrection, our blessed hope, will arm you for effective ministry.

The Word of God:

Psalm 30:3, 41:10

“O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol; You have kept me alive, that I would not go down to the pit. But You, O Lord, be gracious to me and raise me up…”

John 11: 25, 26

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

1 Corinthians 15:3-8

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that he was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. And that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
