SATAN

Definition:

Satan is defined in Judeo-Christian and Islamic religions as the chief spirit of evil and adversary of God; tempter of mankind; master of Hell.

Brief Explanation:  Satan and the evil he tries to spread are real and will often be encountered in the counseling office. It has been asked, I cannot remember by or to whom, if a Christian can have a demon. The answer was purported to be; “I suppose he can if he wants one.”  Of course, no Christian wants or would want to be demonized (the biblical word, meaning harassed, attacked, but not possessed), but many I have worked with over the years, especially severe abuse cases, have experienced great relief after prayer for deliverance.

Deliverance ministry has historically and rightly been a primary ministry of the church, and should remain as such. I am a firm believer that rarely is there a rush on seeking deliverance for a person, and that a team consisting of counselor and pastor or others trained in this specialized area of ministry works best. In either case, Satan is alive and still seeking to hurt the believer, but thank God, he is a defeated foe, under our feet, and under our authority.
